Inés Carpio San Román ​

Responsibilites

  • Responsible for the coordination and representation of Spain in international financing matters, particularly in relations with the European Union and international financial institutions, as well as for the management of external debt.

Academic background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She completed the final year at Georgetown University (United States).
  • Civil servant of the High Corps of State Economists and Trade Specialists, 2007.

Professional experience

  • General Director of International Finance at the Ministry of the Economy, Trade and Business since February 2024.
  • Alternate Governor for Spain at the African Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.
  • Director for Spain in the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank.
  • Advisor to the Secretary of State for Budgets and Expenditure in the Ministry of Finance from September 2021 until February 2024.
  • She worked in the General Directorate of Macroeconomic Analysis in the Ministry of Economy from September 2020 until 2021.
  • Chief Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office in Vienna, advising the Spanish Embassies to Austria and Slovenia, as well as to the United Nations and the OSCE, from April 2016 until August 2020.
  • Chief of Staff in the Economic Office of the President of the Government from 2013 until 2016.
  • Member of the Board of Directors of INECO, engineering and consultancy company from 2012 until 2013, and in SELAE, the State Lotteries and Betting company, from 2013 until 2016.
  • She began her career in the Spanish Treasury in the Financial analysis department.
